DIY Mary Poppins Costume

Halloween is quickly approaching, meaning time to start thinking of what you are going to be. I find it so hard to pick a Halloween costume, mainly because I don't want to spend a ton of money on a costume. I decided I would see what I had in my closet and if I could use any of it to make a costume.  I found a black skater skirt and a button up shirt and immediately thought Mary Poppins. This costume is fairly easy to make, as many people people own these basic pieces.

Items needed for the costume

black skate skirt, black tights, white dress shirt, red bow, hat with white flowers

Hat and Bow

Needed: red ribbon (make into a bow), glue gun, black hat, scissors, and daisies

Glue your flowers on the hat in the pattern of your choice

Make-up

Mary Poppins make-up is pretty neutral, so I kept a neutral eye and made the focus her famous red lip.

Hair

Mary Poppins has her hair in a low bun. The best way to do your hair is to put the hat on your head, then form the bun below the hat.

Soaking up the Last of the Sun

Fall is approaching, and the leaves are being to change. I can't wait for the weather to get crispy and the leaves to turn all these beautiful colors, its just breath taking. With this day in age I find that many people don't take time out of there day to go outside as they are working all day or are being distracted by the internet. I'm not saying that i'm not one of those people because I do binge watch Netflix every now and then. But taking the time out of your day and go walk around is a nice way to get fresh air and to think.
The weather where I live has been actually quite warm which is odd for us since it is the end of September. The other day I decided to go to the park and walk around, and soak up the last bit of the sunshine before it gets chilly. I couldn't help but take some pictures while walking around, it just shows how breath taking nature truly is, well it could be just me since I am a Geography major so I like rock formations.

Get out and enjoy the sun while you still can.

September Ipsy Bag

I love having monthly subscriptions because it is a little gift for yourself about once a month. This is only my second month having Ipsy and I love it. I was kind of skeptical because I was't a huge fan of my first bag, but I thought they are waiting for me to review the products and hopefully next months will be better. The months bag is way better and i'm thrilled with it. Ipsy is a monthly make-up subscription, that on average you receive at about the middle of the month. The price I believe is $10 or so a month but for Canadians I believe it is about $20 due to the conversion rate. The best thing with Ipsy is that you take a quiz and they pick which products are best for you, so if your friends have the subscription may not have the same products are yourself. With tipsy you have the option to peak at your bag once it is on its way to you, but I like to leave it as a surprise.

Here is the products I received this month:

Octavio, Argan oil

Nyx eyeshadown in IpsyNyx01 and J.cats eyeliner in Bronze

Swatches of both the eyeshadow and liner, great for a neutral eye look

Elizabeth Mott, Queen of the fill tinted brow gel in light medium

LANEIGE water sleeping mask

I can't wait to see whats in my October Ipsy Bag.

No Way 24!

Its hard to believe how fast this year is going by, it literally feels like I just turned 23 the other day. I still can't wrap around my head that I'm now 24, its like I'm almost 25 its crazy. Like as a kid I always thought that at 24 I would be living on my own, have my own car, settling down and having a real job. But I am so far from that, I only just recently graduated from university and am looking for a job in my field. Over the next year hopefully things will work out and I will get a car and get ready to move out.
I celebrated my birthday by going out to breakfast with one of my friends and having a family supper. When I was talking to one of my friends on the phone we were talking about how different birthdays are since when we are kids. As a kid, everyone had a party where they would invite the entire class and it was normally a swimming, skating, movie or bowling party. With each year less and less kids got invited and you had small parties like sleepovers. I never made a big deal of birthdays and to be honest i'm not a huge fan of them. Since graduating high school for my birthday me and my family have supper together with my grandparents on my actual birthday. With my friends, we tend on doing separate things, we normally go out to supper, or a movie or just hang out when our schedules aline. Its just funny looking back and seeing how much stuff has changed over time.
I'm still not ready to accept being 24, this year I have grown up a ton and there has been ups and downs. The main thing is that I learned a lot and I can't wait to see what being 24 brings.
